Who is Ariane Carle ?

Daughter to the famous cineaste Gilles Carle and the artist Suzèle Lachapelle, Ariane Carle is surrounded by the arts since her youth. Her studies at the Montreal School of Fine Arts led her to experiment colors, textures as well the mix of styles. With Les Tricots d’Ariane, she becomes one of the rare creators to import her thread from India and to knit it herself, therefore producing trendy, higher quality knits.

On top of selling her collections abroad (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas, etc.), she presents her creations during fashion shows in the Quebec metropolis and she participates in many fashion shows to represent Quebec, notably in California (House of Quebec), in New York and in Paris (Trocadero Parade).

In the 1980s, she opened two boutiques in Toronto and one in Montreal on Laurier Street. In the late 1990s, she moved the store to rue Saint-Joseph, which she occupied for some 20 years before opening the current store at 80 Laurier West in 2019. Ariane Carle has made many appearances in prestigious magazines including Vogue USA and Harper’s Bazaar.

Performing arts and cinema hold an important place in Ariane Carle’s life, she makes clothes for different plays and movies. Among her faithful clientele are many personalities of the artistic community.
